Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 8th Grade Parents/Guardians and Students: I can’t believe it, but the end of the school year and the middle school experience is only a short time away. Congratulations to a great group of 8th graders who have been stretched and grown over the last three years and are now ready to tackle high school! To clearly communicate the timing of important events, we have provided a list of dates in this packet (and email). All events are also on our school website calendar. In addition, we have attached a permission slip for the end of the year field trip to Camp Reed. This form needs to be signed and returned by June 6th. 8th Grade Awards and Promotion Ceremony - On Wednesday, June 12th, starting at 1:00pm in the Deer Park Middle School Gym, we will host our 8th Grade Awards and Recognition Ceremony! This is a time to recognize the accomplishments and hard work of all of our 8th graders! All families are invited to this ceremony but seating will be somewhat limited. The doors will open at 12:45pm. That evening (June 12th) we will host a free dance for our 8th graders at Deer Park Middle School from 6:30pm until 8:00pm. The dance will be located in the courtyard by the bus loop. Please, use the bus loop on C Street for drop off and pickup. This dance is for current DPMS 8th grade students only. Please arrange to pick up your child at 8:00pm. Students who leave the dance prior to 8:00pm will not be allowed back into the event.
