Welcome Back DPMS 2025-26
Good evening Deer Park Middle School families and welcome to the 2025-26 school year. I am Tim Olietti, the Principal of DPMS and I am excited to start my 15th year at the middle school leading our Ohana. I frequently use our robo call system to call and/or email you with important information. Please make sure your phone number and email in Skyward Family Access is accurate and that emails do not go into your spam folder because often I will only send an email.
This message is to inform you of a few back to school items.
The first is that student schedules will be available for viewing in Skyward on Wednesday, 8/20 and are subject to change in the coming week. You or your student may email me with change requests but it is best to wait until schedules are finalized on Monday, 8/25. Those who requested to be part of the "Zero Hour" Speed and Strength class will not see that reflected in Skyward but will receive separate communication from me later this week.
The second is to let you know that our Back to School Night and Open House will be on Monday, August 25th for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. I will send out a separate email Friday with more details but our 6th grade Orientation and Open House will start in the gym at 3:45 and the 7th/8th grade Back to School Night will start at 4:30. Students will receive printed schedules with locker info at this time.
We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
Thank you for your time, enjoy the weekend ahead and Go Spikes!

DPSD staff is dedicated to student and adult learning, maintaining a collaborative culture, and is focused on positive results! Staff is gearing up and excited for a fantastic year ahead! By attending this conference, our teachers and administrators demonstrated a commitment to ensuring that all students learn at high levels. Staff attended the professional learning community conference in Spokane this week. Way to represent DPSD!

Did you know that a committee consisting of 25 community members, parents and staff spent months prioritizing facility conditions and weighing future needs? They identified a short-term, 4-yr capital levy as the best approach to address the district’s near-term needs. Learn more about the committee and their recommendation here: https://www.dpsd.org/page/levy2025. They also provided insights around a long-term plan to ensure we are preparing for the future!

Did you know that the high school bond will be completely paid off this year? That means that the short-term capital levy will only cost 42 cents per thousand more than we are paying now. To learn more about the proposed short-term capital levy costs, click here: https://www.dpsd.org/page/levy2025costs

Please read the August Welcome Back to School newsletter from Dr. Allman, Superintendent: https://5il.co/3n489

August 27th is the first day of school for 1st - 12th graders

What projects will the short-term capital levy address? Great question. It will replace the 30-yr old roof and gym HVAC units on Arcadia, address district-wide safety and communications, replace the 90-yr old transportation facility, and
purchase and develop needed land. To learn more about the four priority projects, click here: https://www.dpsd.org/page/levy2025

Many thanks to our community for supporting the educational programs and operations (EPO) levy! DPSD can provide basic school supplies to all K-8 students for the 2025-26 school year.
First day of school (1st -12th grade) is August 27th!

Did you know that the Deer Park School District and the City of Deer Park continue to partner to meet the needs of our community? We have a vested interest in ensuring we maintain our community feel, values, and that we are meeting the needs of all of our community, collaboratively and together. We would like your input and feedback! https://form.jotform.com/252055493218154
Planning for our future is essential to improving our quality of life. The City of Deer Park is currently investing in a Splashpad, Skate Park, and Pickleball Courts. The City is updating its Parks and Recreation Plan to make additional recreation improvements. Citizen input will be the foundation of this plan. "What do you want Deer Park's parks, recreation facilities to look like in 10 years?" Please answer the following questions to guide our future recreation investment. By completing the survey, you will be entered into a drawing for a $100 certificate. You may only enter one survey. Redundant surveys will result in disqualification and survey removal. The winner will be notified by email in September. You must provide a valid email address to be eligible. For more information about this project or survey, please contact Larry Fetter at 541-561-7617.
