7th Grade End of Year Activities! Good evening DPMS 7th Grade families. I hope you had a great weekend and have Memorial Day plans for the coming weekend. This message is to inform you of our end of the year plans for 7th graders, including the permission slip for these events (which will be sent home today with kids as well...it is green). Please have them returned to their FLEX teacher by Thursday at the latest. Thank you! The first event is on Friday, May 30th which will be our 11th annual 4S (Seventh grade Spike Spring Service) Project. On this day, our 7th graders spend their morning working (and I mean actually doing labor) out in the community to learn to help others! Projects include but are not limited to land clearing at Camp Reed, moving dirt and rocks at the Clayton Fairgrounds, weeding and planting flowers at the City Maintenance building, painting dugouts at the Little League fields, window washing at DP Crossing, as well as other projects in our area. This is a great opportunity for our 7th graders to learn to give back to our community and concludes with a supervised road clean-up project of Colville Rd. and H Street out to the roundabout. The second big event is intended to be a reward for all those who participated in the 4S Project. On Tuesday, June 10th, 7th graders will walk, bike or bus to Mix Park for an afternoon of lunch and fun at the park! Thank you for your time and for attending to the permission slip as we seek to coordinate these activities for your 7th grader! ...And Go Spikes! 8th Grade End of Year Activies and Plans! Good evening DPMS 8th Grade families. I hope this message finds you well! As the school year is winding down, I wanted to get you multiple documents that your child received on Monday regarding the end of the year activities and plans. Please take a few moments to look at each document. Two of them are permission slips for the end of the year field trip to Camp Reed on Tuesday, June 10th. These are required for attendance. In addition, regarding the Camp Reed trip, it is a privilege and students need to finish the year strong and remember to be respectful and responsible at school in the weeks to come if they plan to attend. Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions! Have a great night, three day weekend and Go Spikes! 8th Grade Letter Important Dates! Generation Alive Fundraiser and Dance (Friday) Good evening DPMS families. I hope you are well and enjoying the spring weather! This message is to inform you of our Generation Alive fundraiser we are currently engaged in for all students. Generation Alive is dedicated to helping Spokane youth "live and lead with compassion". Students are being asked to collect coins and funds in their collection boxes to donate to the cause, as described in the letter below that students received on Friday. This has been a successful, meaningful, ongoing relationship with Generation Alive for 11 years! In addition, there is a 6th through 8th dance for DPMS kids only, this Friday, May 9th from 3:00 - 4:30 in the MS Gym. All proceeds will go to the Generation Alive fundraiser. The cost is $5 with a $1 discount each for a Plus+Card and/or ASB Card. There will be concessions available for $5 or less. Thank you for supporting this community service project that culminates with our 8th graders packing thousands of meals for our local food bank. It is a great experience for our middle school kids to think beyond their little day to day world. Have a great evening and Go Spikes! DPMS G.A. Happy National School Nurses Day to our incredible school nurses! They work hard and do it with smiles on their faces. Without them, we could not do the important work we do as a District. Thank you for the care and compassion you show our students in all of our schools. We appreciate you!

A MESSAGE FROM DEER PARK MIDDLE SCHOOL DPMS State Testing Good afternoon DPMS families. This message is to inform you that starting today for 6th graders, state testing at DPMS has officially begun. Please see the following DPMS Testing Schedule to determine when and what subject your child is testing in. To the best of our ability, we try to not disrupt the learning in other classes and have students test on a regular schedule, which is why it may appear we test for a long period of time. Please help us and your child by ensuring they get plenty of rest and have a charged Chromebook prior to testing! Our official testing letter with additional details here: SBAC Testing Parent Letter Thank you and have a great rest of your day! Tim Olietti Principal Deer Park Middle School Go Spikes! IMUA!

Many thanks to Mayor Verzal for inviting and including the Deer Park School District in the City's Community Parks and Open Space planning process! Although this process is focused on the city's needs, it was inspiring for business leaders (including the Chamber of Commerce) and the City to highly consider the needs of our kids and families! What a great group of representatives from the community. We are excited to see where this planning process takes our community and how we can continue to partner and work together as a cohesive team.

Spring Celebration of Learning! DPMS families. Here are a few reminders going into our Spring Celebration Open House tonight and Spring Break! - First off, today, Wednesday, April 2nd is a FULL regular day of school. NO school Thursday and Friday. - Wednesday, tonight, the Open House will begin at 4:30 and will continue through 7:30. Students must attend with an adult in order to be considered for the Picket Fenced or Froyo gift card drawing! - 6th Grade Camp Reed information meeting starts at 6:00. This is a very important meeting to attend to get all the information about our overnight outdoor school experience at Camp Reed, May 21st - 23rd. - Lastly, I wanted you all to know we have been having much discussion about youth "screen time" and device usage. We are hoping to decrease the amount of Chromebook usage here at school and at home as well. As a result, while the computers are always being filtered, we will now make all of YouTube a blocked site for student Chromebooks. We hope to continue to find ways to educate all of us on the importance of protecting our youth from the harmful effects of the digital age we now live in. Have a wonderful Spring Break and I hope to see you TONIGHT! Thanks for your time and Go Spikes! Tim Olietti Principal Deer Park Middle School Go Spikes! IMUA!
