Caution please! Students will start school on Wednesday. Please be extra cautious and extremely careful when driving through the school zones. This year, there is road construction, and the crosswalks are not marked yet. Thank you for driving slowly, remaining off phones, and being highly aware as you are driving through the school zones.

A MESSAGE FROM DEER PARK MIDDLE SCHOOL
Welcome Back DPMS 2025-26

Good evening Deer Park Middle School families and welcome to the 2025-26 school year. I am Tim Olietti, the Principal of DPMS and I am excited to start my 15th year at the middle school leading our Ohana. I frequently use our robo call system to call and/or email you with important information. Please make sure your phone number and email in Skyward Family Access is accurate and that emails do not go into your spam folder because often I will only send an email.

This message is to inform you of a few back to school items.

The first is that student schedules will be available for viewing in Skyward on Wednesday, 8/20 and are subject to change in the coming week. You or your student may email me with change requests but it is best to wait until schedules are finalized on Monday, 8/25. Those who requested to be part of the "Zero Hour" Speed and Strength class will not see that reflected in Skyward but will receive separate communication from me later this week.

The second is to let you know that our Back to School Night and Open House will be on Monday, August 25th for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. I will send out a separate email Friday with more details but our 6th grade Orientation and Open House will start in the gym at 3:45 and the 7th/8th grade Back to School Night will start at 4:30. Students will receive printed schedules with locker info at this time.

We are looking forward to seeing you soon!

Thank you for your time, enjoy the weekend ahead and Go Spikes!

Did you know that Arcadia Elementary was originally built over a half century ago? The most recent improvements to the school were made 29 years ago. Despite proper care and upkeep, the roof has outlived its useful life and is in need of replacement, classroom and hallway flooring are worn, and the gym HVAC is failing. The short-term capital levy will address these needs. To learn more about the proposed Arcadia improvements, click https://www.dpsd.org/page/levy2025.

Plan for the future

They identified a short-term, 4-yr capital levy as the best approach to address the district’s near-term needs. Learn more about the committee and their recommendation here: https://www.dpsd.org/page/levy2025. They also provided insights around a long-term plan to ensure we are preparing for the future!

Longer term plan
Did you know that the Deer Park School District has a Strategic Plan? Community members, parents, teachers, paraeducators, and administrators representing all of the schools came together to create a long-term plan for Deer Park students and the District. The team reviewed and analyzed a variety of data and community feedback to develop the plan. The strategic planning process outlines the vision, mission, promise, and values, and establishes priorities for the next 5 years. The priorities include wellness & belonging, academic engagement, building bridges, making connections, and addressing facility needs.
