DPMS 6th graders are making memories that will last a lifetime at Camp Reed and all doing well at camp this week!

Student voice and perspective matter! Many thanks to this year's DPHS Student Advisory Council for volunteering their time to share their experiences and thoughts. This year, this group of students shared their honest insights as to what is going well and what areas can be improved. Today, students shared their gratitude to staff who have positively impacted them; overall, they shared they were most appreciative of those who challenged them, held them to high expectations, believed in them, listened, and cared for them. Many of these students will be starting a new journey following graduation on June 7. Many thanks to the students!

At the May 12th board meeting, Tanya Barcellos, Head Cook at the High School, was honored with the Above and Beyond award.
In her first year as a lead, Tanya has shown unwavering dedication and a positive spirit every single day. She’s known for her flexibility, always stepping in wherever she’s needed without ever complaining. Whether it’s managing changing schedules or lending a helping hand, Tanya does it all with a smile and a warm greeting for every student.
Beyond the kitchen, Tanya is deeply committed to her community, often volunteering her time and energy. She’s also a proud and loving grandmother who brings that same care and heart to her work.
Tanya truly embodies what it means to go above and beyond, and we’re so grateful to have her as part of Deer Park School District.

As we honor and remember those who have served, please remember there will be no school on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Congratulations to our 5th Graders in the Math is Cool Masters!
While they didn’t make it to the podium, the team delivered an outstanding performance, earning a perfect score on the Team Multiple Choice Test and going undefeated in all their College Bowl matches. The competition was tough, but our students showed incredible determination, teamwork, and academic excellence. We’re so proud of their effort and spirit. Great job, team!

Today, elementary students lined the sidewalks to watch the high school marching band practice for the Torchlight Parade. A fun break in the day, especially for the younger students who enjoyed watching the high schoolers in action.

Congratulations to Deer Park graduate and business owner, Kelsie Carlson. Kelsie was recognized by the Washington State Administrator (WASA) region for her support and advocacy for the schools. DPSD thanks Kelsie for her generosity, support, and commitment to supporting students!
Kelsie's commitment to supporting our schools spans from elementary through high school, making a significant impact in various ways.
Kelsie's involvement is nothing short of inspiring. She volunteers tirelessly at elementary school events, attends evening functions, and generously donates both her time and proceeds directly back to the schools. This year alone, she sponsored an entire grade level at Deer Park High School, ensuring every student received Stags t-shirts to proudly represent their school spirit.
Beyond financial support, Kelsie goes the extra mile by organizing and facilitating community-wide send-offs for state-bound students. These events garner local media attention and involve collaborations with businesses, police, and fire departments to create a memorable escort that truly showcases community support.
On a weekly basis, Kelsie personally prepares and delivers coffee orders to each school, adding a personal touch that brightens the days of students and staff alike. Her dedication extends to advocating for the community through informative videos on bond and levy initiatives, ensuring that Deer Park remains a vibrant and well-supported educational hub.
"We are incredibly grateful for Kelsie's unwavering support, advocacy, and voice in our community," expressed by Dr. Alexa Allman, superintendent of Deer Park School District. "Her commitment exemplifies the spirit of leadership and generosity that makes Deer Park such a special place."
Kelsie Carlson's nomination for the regional community leadership award is a testament to her outstanding contributions and the profound impact she continues to make on the lives of students and families throughout Deer Park.
