August 2023
Greetings Deer Park Families!
This summer has been filled with exciting opportunities to meet our students and families through community events. I am honored and grateful to serve such a wonderful, caring, and thoughtful community! I trust that you are having a wonderful break, filled with some fun and memorable experiences. As we gear up for the new school year, I want to extend a few notes of appreciation and gratitude, provide an update related to the growth and planning process, and share some important fall dates.
First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all the individuals who worked tirelessly over the summer to ensure our school buildings and grounds are clean, safe, and ready for the return of our students. Thank you to our maintenance and custodial crew!
Additionally, Deer Park School District will be providing school supplies for all K-8 students again this year. I want to say a huge thank you to our district office staff and volunteers who ordered, organized, and distributed school supplies for our students. Next, I’d like to express appreciation to the staff who supported student learning this summer. It's through their ongoing commitment and hard work that we can create an optimal learning environment for our students and help ensure they are ready for the upcoming school year, thank you!
Over the summer, we've been busy working on gathering input and feedback from our community regarding our growth and planning process. We held community forms in May, and July, and will hold another on August 16 at the City Council meeting. We have also solicited feedback via ThoughtExchange following each of the forums. Thanks and appreciation to our Facilities Advisory Committee comprised of citizens, families, and educators who supported this planning process over the past few years. The community’s input will play an essential role in shaping the future of the Deer Park School District as we prepare to run a bond and a levy. Together, we are building a stronger foundation for the generations to come, and your support is deeply appreciated. There is still time to review the information shared, provide input and feedback as well as view the thoughts of others: CLICK HERE.
